Dear Discoverers!

As we’ve already opened the canoeing season, we should make the most of the good water level, till it lasts.

We’re going to pick the boats in Srbsko where we left them the last time a do another section of Berounka, to Dobrichovice.

There are 3 weirs where we’ll need to carry the boats. We will have a mix of 2-seat and 3-seat boats.

You can join this event even if you have no or limited canoeing experience as the river Berounka flows slowly. However, as this is still quite early in the year, be prepared for water being cold!

LOGISTICS

We will meet on Saturday 3rd of June at 8:45 AM in front of the main ticket office at the Prague Main Railway Station.

Bring with you water and some snacks. There will be a lunch stop in one of the campsites along the river serving traditional Czech food and beer :)

After arriving in Dobrichovice, we’ll return the gear and take train back to Prague. Trains run every 30 minutes. We’ll be aiming to be back at Smichovske nadrazi by 6 pm the latest. However, we will be as fast as the slowest members of our group and a delay is possible. This is a full-day event.

I’m going to book a restaurant near Smichovske nadrazi for optional, after-the-event socializing and dinner :-)

What to bring with you: Shoes you don’t mind getting wet – sandals or special shoes for water, wear clothes which dry fast (NOT jeans), sunscreen, food and drink for picnic lunch. Put all your staff to a small compact bag – we will put all our belongings into water-proof barrels and they are not very large.

We will need to give a deposit of 1000 CZK per boat (will be returned after arrival), there is also additional cost for renting a life-jacket (strongly recommended, especially if you’re not a strong swimmer). Therefore bring at least 800 – 1000 CZK in cash – there is no ATM!

Note: Please allow extra time to get to the meeting point – public transport is less frequent on Saturdays. Also bring your Open Card (OC)/Litacka/other types of prepaid travel card with you. If you don’t have any form of prepaid travel card, bring 2×24 CZK ticket instead.

PRICE: 550 CZK/person or 450 CZK/person with Discovery Pass (includes round-trip train ticket Praha-Radotin to Srbsko and from Dobrichovice back, boat rental, myself as your guide and instructor and meetup organization fee.

The event will be cancelled in case of bad weather -which means heavy rain and strong wind based on weather forecast the day before the event. If it is just cold and cloudy with occasional light rain the event will go ahead because we are not made of sugar and won’t dissolve :-)

Low water levels on the day might also lead to the cancellation of this event.
