Let’s visit the biggest tourist attraction of Slovakia! The High Tatras (Vysoké Tatry) are the highest mountains of the Carpathian range which spans across Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland.
There are 26 summits above 2500 meters/8200 ft a.s.l and more than a hundred glacial lakes (‘plesa’ in Slovak).
Our hiking base will be near the bank of the most famous one – Štrbské pleso.
Meeting at the Prague Main Train Station at 21:00.
Overnight train journey on a sleeper train (in private compartments each for 3 people)
In the morning arrival to Štrbské Pleso. We will leave our belongings in the hotel and set off on a warm-up hike to the top of Predné Solisko 2117 m/6946 ft a.s.l.
Difficulty: Medium
12 km/8 miles with approx. 750 meters/2460 ft vertical gain
Afternoon: Rest, dinner
Full-day hike to “Téryho chata” (Téry’s hut) and the waterfalls of Studený potok.
Téryho chata is the highest located mountain refuge with all-year-round operation in the Tatras. It lies at 2015 meters a.s.l., near to the charming Five Spiš Lakes.
During the hike you will enjoy the skyline of some of the highest peaks of the Tatra Mountains (“Lomnický štít” 2634 m/8642 ft a.s.l., “Ľadový štít” etc.) and see its largest waterfalls.
Difficulty: Medium to Challenging
Around 18 km/11 miles with approx. 1200 meters/4000 ft of vertical gain!
Full day hike to the foothills of Gerlachov Peak.
You will see 2 mountain lakes – Popradske pleso and Batizovské pleso and enjoy the view of Gerlachov Peak (Gerlachovský štít), the highest peak of the Carpathian mountain range (2655 m/8711 ft a.s.l.)!

Around 16 km/10 miles with approx. 900 meters/2900 ft vertical gain
Popradské pleso
Breakfast and packing
Leaving from Štrbské pleso at 11:00 am.
Train journey back to Prague, expected arrival is at 18:36.
Please note that I reserve the right to change the plan of the hikes if I deem it necessary due to the weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances!
Good health and physical fitness is necessary
You’ll stay in a 2-star hotel about 100 meters from the banks of Štrbské pleso. There are rooms for 3, 4 and 5 persons and shared bathrooms – one for gents, one for ladies.
The accommodation includes breakfast and dinner. Bedding and towels are provided.
Sturdy hiking shoes, windproof/waterproof jacket, clothes for 4 days, hat (to protect you from sun and/or wind, sun screen, pyjamas/comfortable clothes for sleeping, toiletries and day pack.
Do NOT bring a sleeping bag.

The price includes: Round-trip train ticket from Prague to Štrbské Pleso, local transport, 3 nights accommodation with half-board (breakfast and dinner included), guiding and organization, Travel Agency Insurance and a photo report.
The breakfast on the first day and lunches during the whole trip.
Travel health insurance. I strongly advise you to arrange one because your regular health insurance (e.g. EHIC) wouldn’t cover, for example, an emergency helicopter transport. It is extremely unlikely you will need that but better to be safe than sorry! Insure yourself for about 100 Kč and have peace of mind!
