Hello Discoverers!
I’d like to cordially invite you to physically (but not socially!) distanced Christmas Eve hike!
To comply with the new anti-epidemic rules in force from Dec 18, we will divide in groups of max. 6 people which will keep cca 20-30 meters apart. When talking to each other, I recommend to keep a 2-meter (6 ft) distance and/or wearing a face mask.
The route will be mostly in the woods off the beaten path. We will criss-cross the Šárka Valley and should arrive at the St. Matthias Church (Sv. Matěj) in Dejvice around 13:00.
The church is well-known for a nativity scene made of gingerbread. Hopefully we will be able to see it despite of the lockdown. We might even be able to get a cup of tea or coffee through a window.
But don’t rely on buying refreshments along the way, carry a flask/water bottle and some snacks. If you bake Christmas cookies, it will be super nice of you if you bring some with you :)
Around 8 km/5 miles, on paved and unpaved streets and foot trails. Šárka Valley is hilly so there will be around 200 meters of vertical gain (2 hills to walk up).
We will meet at 10:00 am at Nádraží Veleslavín (metro A station). The actual meeting point will be a little bus stop located in the Vokovická street in front of the big yellow building of the elementary school.
If arriving by the metro, turn right from the escalators and then walk straight all the way to the end of the corridor. Take the stairs out on the street level and you’ll see the meeting point immediately in front of you.
