Let’s go canoeing one more time before the summer ends! Recent rain brought more water in the rivers and weather forecast promises a warm weekend.
The plan is to ride an easy and relatively short section from the Sázava town to Chocerady.
DIFFICULTY: Easy to Medium
(depending on the water level on the day)
About 11 km / 7 miles. There are 2 weirs and no rapids.
You can join even if you haven’t canoed before as long as you can swim. You should also be somewhat physically coordinated and have patience to learn a new motor skill.
I’m not a certified instructor but I have taught countless people the basics of canoeing.
LOGISTICS
We will meet at 8:00 AM in front of the main ticket office at the Prague Main Railway Station.
We’ll be aiming to be back in Prague by 18:00. However, we will be as fast as the slowest member of our group and an unexpected delay is possible. This is a full-day event.
What to bring with you
Shoes to wear in water (sandals, or you can buy special shoes for walking in water), wear clothes which dry fast (e.g. swimwear, NOT jeans), sunscreen, spare clothes (in case your canoe capsizes), towel, swimwear, bottle of water and a small snack. Put all your staff to a small compact bag – we will put all our belongings into water-proof barrels and they are not very large.
Since dropping my phone in the river and losing my glasses during capsizing, I’ve been recommending everyone to keep their phone in a waterproof case and having glasses on a string while on the boat.

(Includes train fare both ways, equipment rental and myself as your guide and instructor)
Children under 16 accompanied by adult pay 550 CZK (create a separate order for them an enter ‘child16’ coupon code at the checkout)
