Ahooj to all canoers!
I’d like to invite you to join me for the traditional rowing and canoeing event “3 jezy” (3 weirs) which takes place every year on the St. Wenceslas Day.
We will ride on a 4-person raft from Císařská louka to Štvanice through the historical town centre and run 3 weirs along the way, hence the name of the event. This is the only occasion when running these three weirs is allowed!
This is a big event, there will be hundreds of boats and paddleboards, some of them taking part in a race. But we will go with the casual paddlers category.
DIFFICULTY: Medium
About 6 km / 4 miles. There are 3 weirs and we will have to navigate between many other rafts and canoes.
LOGISTICS
We will meet at 10:00 AM on the tram stop “Lihovar” (one stop from Smíchovské nádraží, trams 4, 5, 12, 20) and then walk about 20 min to the ride starting point at the Císářská louka island.
After the event we will go for an early dinner or drink.
What to bring with you
Shoes to wear in water (sandals, or you can buy special shoes for walking in water), wear clothes which dry fast (NOT jeans), sunscreen, spare T-shirt, trousers and underwear (in case your canoe capsizes), a towel. Put all your staff to a small compact bag – we will put all our belongings into water-proof barrels and they are not very large.
Since dropping my phone in the river and losing my glasses during capsizing, I’ve been recommending everyone to keep their phone in a waterproof case and having glasses on a string while on the boat.
PRICE: 550 Kč
The price includes the raft rental and the registration fee for the ride.
