Hello everyone!

I would like to invite you for a weekend trip to southern Bohemia. This part of the Czech Republic has the lowest population density, the cleanest environment and a plenty of cute historic towns and castles.

More specifically, we’ll explore the CHKO Trebonsko (The Trebon Protected Landscape Area) which is a lowland dotted with smaller and larger ponds and rivers around the pretty historic town of Trebon.

We will spend the Saturday cycling and the Sunday canoeing.

 LOGISTICS & ITINERARY

We will meet at 8:00 am on Saturday June 17 at Prague Main Railway Station. See the picture below.

We’ll board the 8:32 train to Veseli nad Luznici (arrival is scheduled at 10:20 am). We’re going to rent bicycles at the train station, see the bicycle in the picture below.

We’ll go for a lovely cca 50 km long ride in the picturesque and mostly flat countryside in the CHKO Trebonsko.

We’ll return the bikes in Trebon around 5:00 pm and go for a walk and dinner in Trebon town. Later that night we’ll take half an hour train ride to Suchdol na Luznici. We stay overnight in Autocamp U Piskovny. It is a campsite by a nice lake, ideal for a night or morning swim! I have booked for ourselves two wooden huts, each for five people. The campsite has shared bathrooms in the main building.

In the morning, after having breakfast and (optional) swim in the lake, we’ll pick up the boats and spend day on the river Luznice.

Return to Prague is planned on Sunday at 6:30 pm.

DIFFICULTY: Easy (about 50 km on bicycle in flat terrain on day 1, about 12 km of canoeing on day 2) – manageable by a healthy city-dweller/office worker who is used to moderate level of physical activity.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU: Pack light, because you’ll need to carry your belongings on the bike. All your stuff should fit into a 20-25 l size backpack. If you find it difficult to pack into such a small allowance, contact me. I’ll advise you. Shoes for walking in water (ideally sandals you can wear for the cycling and walking too), sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent (there are mosquitoes around the ponds) and bathing suit/swimming trunks.

WHAT NOT TO BRING WITH YOU:

  • Your own bicycle – We will all rent bikes from Ceske drahy. I’ve tested their bikes and they are pretty good!
  • Sleeping bag – it won’t be needed.

 PRICE:

1790 Kc or 1590 Kc with Discovery Pass

The price includes EVERYTHING except of food and drink (all train fares, bike rental, canoe rental, accommodation, myself as your guide and organizer and Tour Operator Insurance is included)

Please note:

This is extremely good value! I have added almost no mark-up for myself because this is my first time organizing such a logistically complex event. I also need to highlight that even though, the itinerary has been thoroughly researched, not all of the route has been scouted on the ground!

I am looking forward to discovering southern Bohemia with you!

Cheers,

Filip
