Hello everyone!
We have already been to Bohemian Switzerland in spring, summer (video here) and autumn. Its main landmark the Pravcicka Gate is one of the most visited natural monuments in the Czech Republic and so it’s very busy for most of the year. But in in February there’ll be almost nobody and, if we’re lucky, we will get to see the Gate covered with snow!
PLAN OF THE DAY & TRAIL DESCRIPTION
Please read attentively!
We will meet at 7:45 am on Saturday 9th of February 2019, in front of the old building of Prague Main Train Station (Fantova budova). See the photo of the meeting point below.
Please be in time because the bus won’t be able to park at the pick-up location for very long! Journey planner will help you to plan your morning travel.
The bus journey to the hike’s starting point takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
In order to accommodate hikers of different abilities, we are going to divide into two groups. Slower Group will hike some 10 km, Faster Group some 15 km. Both groups will see the main highlight of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park – the Pravcicka Gate.
Expected arrival back to Prague is 7:00 pm but a delay is possible. Don’t plan anything critical after the trip!
DIFFICULTY: Medium (both groups)
Please note that the hike’s actual difficulty will be influenced by the weather conditions on the day. Do not join this trip if you’re not comfortable walking on snowy and icy trails and stairs!
BRING WITH YOU
Sturdy, warm and non-slippery (!) walking shoes/boots, gloves, hat and spare socks. Dress in layers according to the weather forecast for the day. Bring some energy bars etc, and water. Thermos with hot tea and/or a flask with something stronger will come handy too.
