Hello Discoverers,

we’ve listened to what you had to say in our our recent survey. One of the most requested events to be repeated was The Canoeing on Sazava. Conveniently, we currently have a streak of rainy weather which is expected to improve canoeing conditions on our rivers over the week.

We’re going to ride Sazava from the Sazava town to Chocerady, some 12 km. It is an easy part of the river, suitable for beginners.

LOGISTICS

We will meet on Saturday 22th of July at 8:00 AM in front of the main ticket office at the Prague Main Railway Station. The advantage of this earlier start is that we will be able to take the direct, fast(er) train and hence enjoy the river in the morning before it gets busy.

Meeting point in the Prague Main Railway Station

The train ride will take approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes. We’ll be aiming to be back in Prague by 6 pm the latest. However, we will be as fast as the slowest members of our group and a delay is possible. This is a full-day event.

Note: Please allow extra time to get to the meeting point – public transport is less frequent on Saturdays. Also bring your Open Card (OC)/Litacka/other types of prepaid travel card with you. If you don’t have any form of prepaid travel card, bring 2×24 CZK ticket instead.

LUNCH: We’ll stop at a restaurant by the riverside. But take water and some snacks for emergencies.

PRICE: 650 CZK/person or 450 CZK/person with Discovery Pass (includes round-trip train tickets, the boat and equipment rental, guidance and organization)

• Wearing a life jacket while on the canoe is recommended to all participants and mandatory for non-swimmers!

What to bring with you: Shoes you don’t mind getting wet – sandals or special shoes for water, wear clothes which dry fast (NOT jeans), sunscreen, some snacks and water. Put all your staff to a small compact bag – we will put all our belongings into water-proof barrels and they are not very large – you can see one in the event title picture.

P.S. What if the weather’s bad: The event will be cancelled in case of bad weather -which means heavy rain and strong wind based on weather forecast the day before the event. If it is just cold and cloudy with occasional light rain the event will go ahead because we are not made of sugar and won’t dissolve :-)
