Hey Discoverers!

For this weekend adventure, we will head to Pálava (also called Pavlov Hills) in south Moravia.

LOGISTICS & ITINERARY

Saturday 29th August

A hike across the Pálava Hills

To make the most of the day, we will meet already at 7:00 am at the Prague Main Train Station. The train journey to South Moravia takes about 4 hours.

The plan for Saturday, is to hike across the main ridge of the Pálava Hills. The hike will be relatively demanding, mostly because of a large elevation gain. See “difficulty” below.

There will be spectacular views, interesting rock formations, vineyards and castle ruins.

Sunday 30th August

Sightseeing and moderate amount of hiking around Mikulov

We will spend the day sightseeing and hiking in the lovely Mikulov and its surroundings. Among other things, we will visit the garden of the Baroque Mikulov Castle and will hike up to the Holy Hill to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the town.

If it’s still warm for swimming, we will go to a nearby old limestone quarry lake with crystal clear water. It is a little bit like a smaller version of the Velká Amerika.

We will travel back to Prague by train, the journey takes about 4 hours. Arrival in Prague Main Station around 20:15. As always, a delay is possible.

DIFFICULTY: Medium to Demanding

(Will challenge most hikers. Good health and physical fitness is necessary)

On Saturday, we will hike some 16 km/10 miles and climb about 640 meters/2100 ft of vertical gain. The hike on Sunday will be easier (medium).
