Hello everyone!

I would like to invite you for a Saturday afternoon hike dedicated to all of you who like to sleep in at weekends! Morning people are welcomed too!

My friend Marcela, who will be the event’s host, will take you to her favorite spot in the Brdy hills, not far from the south-western edge of Prague.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Revnice – the town where one of the best female tennis players of all time Martina Navratilova grew up and did her first steps on the court.

• Beautiful view from the peak of Hvizdinec, overlooking the Berounka river valley.

• Hiking in one of the largest forests of Central Bohemian region

• Chillin’&Swimmin’ by the riverside in Dobrichovice – bring swimwear!

• Optional dinner together in a friendly local restaurant near Dobrichovice station.

LOGISTICS:

The group will meet on Saturday 5th August at 2:30 pm at Smichovske nadrazi  in the ticket hall – see the photo below.

Please allow extra time to get there – public transport is less frequent on Saturdays. Use the journey planner to plan your route.

The route’s description by the event’s host Marcela: 

“We’ll arrive by train to Řevnice, the town where the Czech tennis player Martina Navrátilová was born and raised.

The walk will lead us through beautiful woods, and we’ll enjoy a fantastic view of the valley of the river Berounka from the viewpoint in Hvíždinec. If the visibility is good, wet can even spot the roof of Karlštejn castle.

The walk will end in Dobřichovice, where we can swim in the river (even non-swimmers can dip in as it is very shallow) and we’ll have lunch in a friendly restaurant close to the train station. We will return to Prague by train either as a group or individually as part everybody’s preference.”

DIFFICULTY: EASY TO MEDIUM The hike is around 9 km long and includes steep ascents in uneven, rocky terrain.

What to bring with you: At least 1,5 l  of water (!), sun cream, swimwear for the after-hike fun by the river, a snack for an energy boost, good walking shoes (ideally with closed toes to protect your feet from stones).

PRICE:

250 CZK or 50 CZK with Discovery Pass

Includes the planning and organization, guiding and one-way train fare from Praha – Radotin to Revnice (bring 24 CZK ticket if you don’t have a prepaid travel card for Prague Public Transit).
