Hey Discoverers!
This walk will take you to a picturesque place with a huge historical significance.
Nowadays an unassuming village on the outskirts of Prague, the hillfort of Levý Hradec (lit. a castle on the left riverbank) was the original seat of the first historically documented Czech ruler Bořivoj I. and his wife Ludmila who we learnt about on the last hike.
They built here the first Christian shrine in Bohemia. Only foundations of this first rotunda survived, but there has been a church standing on this site ever since.
We’ll also enjoy the view over the Vltava valley from the nearby hilltop Řivnáč which has an ancient history of human settlement as well.
Afterwards, a pleasant stroll along the river will take us to the town Roztoky.
Conveniently, the craft brewery Perron for after-walk refreshment is situated right next to the train station with frequent trains back to Prague!
We should arrive there around 14:00.
We will meet at 10:15 at the Prague Masaryk Railway Station.
About 8 km, mostly on paved trails. Total vertical gain about 120 meters.
This walk is possilble also with strollers. Dogs are welcome!
If you bring a dog, you will need to buy a separate train ticket for it and it has to be muzzled while on the train.
Includes one-way train fare, the organization and planning and myself as your guide.
Additional Cost: The train fare from Roztoky back to the Masarykovo nádráží is 20Kč with Lítačka or 50Kč without.
